Q. Does the Library provide free laptops to students?
The library does not provide free laptops for students to keep. The program you are thinking of where students in need could borrow a laptop for the semester was called the STAR program. The STAR Program, initiated at the beginning of the Pandemic in late 2020 with the assistance of GEER grant funds from the CARES Act, has fulfilled its obligation of providing students with technology tools during a period of crisis. As we’ve transitioned away from Pandemic protocols at the University to a fully-open and restriction-less campus, laptops are available starting at the beginning of each semester to borrow (without an application) from the Library (at the Circulation Desk) for two-week periods, with one renewal for an extended two-week period.
